[edit]Future models

Recently, they announced that they will launch a Landaulet convertible like the Maybachs of old and this will be first shown in Dubai[1]

With less than stellar sales expectations and heavy impact of 2008 financial crises, Daimler AG is considering cancelling the whole Maybach division. However, Daimler AG has been in talks with Aston-Martin to engineer and style the next generation of Maybach models along with the next generation of Lagonda models. Both are to be based on new Maybach chassis. No release date is given.

AUDI A4

The Audi A4 is a compact executive car produced by the German car manufacturer Audi AG since late 1994. The initial generation A4 succeeded the four previous generations of the Audi 80. And just like its Audi 80 predecessor, the Audi A4 automobile layout consists of a longitudinally orientated engine at the front, with transaxle-type transmissions mounted immediately to the rear of the engine, again, orientated longitudinally. Drive output is transmitted to either the front wheels, or, utilising Audi's 'trademark' quattro permanent four-wheel drive system via a Torsen centre differential.

Since its inception, the Audi A4 has been available in four generations, based on the Volkswagen Group 'B' series of automobile platforms- usually known by the following codes - the initial B5, the subsequent B6 and B7, and the current B8.

Of the main body styles, it is (and always has been) available as a saloon/sedan variant, and an "Avant", which is Audi's name for anestate/wagon. The second (B6) and third generations (B7) of the A4 also had a Cabriolet version, but the Cabriolet was not retained for the current fourth generation (B8), due to the introduction of the Cabriolet version of the related Audi A5 and S5 coupés.

Additionally, higher performance versions directly related to the A4 include the Audi S4, and the limited availability very high performanceAudi RS4.

The first-generation Audi A4 (known internally as the Typ 8D) was debuted by Audi in 1994, with production starting November 1994. It was built on the Volkswagen Group B5 platform, which it shared with the fourth generation Volkswagen Passat (B5, Typ 3B). It had afront-mounted longitudinal engine and standard front-wheel drive, and many variations of the A4 were also available with Audi's 'trademark'quattro four-wheel drive system. The A4 was initially introduced as a four-door saloon/sedan; the Avant (estate/wagon) arrived a year later.

A wide range of engines were available to European customers, between 1.6 and 2.8 litres for petrol engines, and a 1.9 L diesel engineavailable with Volkswagen Group's VE technology, capable of achieving a 90 PS (66 kW; 89 bhp) or 110 PS (81 kW; 108 bhp), although Audi's 2.8 L V6, carried over from the old 80/90 was the only engine option in North America until 1997.

The Audi A4 was the first model in the Volkswagen Group to feature the new 1.8 L 20v motor with five valves per cylinder, based on the unit Audi Sport had developed for their Supertouring race car. A turbocharged version produced 150 PS (110 kW; 148 bhp) and 210 newton metres (155 ft·lbf) torque. This technology was added to the V6 family of engines in 1996, starting with the 2.8 L V6 30V, which now produced 193 PS (142 kW; 190 bhp).

Audi also debuted their new tiptronic automatic transmission on the B5 platform, based on the unit Porsche developed for their 964-generation 911. The transmission is a conventional automatic gearbox with a torque converter, but it offers the driver fully automatic operation or manual selection of the gear ratios

Markets

[edit]India

Toyota launched the Fortuner in India in 2009.[1][2] It is assembled at the Bidadi, Karnataka plant of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limitedfrom imported CKD kits.[3]

[edit]Indonesia

The Fortuner was introduced in 2005 at the Jakarta International Motor Show. It is positioned below the Land Cruiser and above the RAV4.

It is sold in 2.7 G and 2.7 V. Later on, a 2.5 G version was added. The trim 3.0 diesel engine is not officially sold in Indonesia. It was imported specially for the Sumatra and Kalimantan markets, where it became a strong seller.

The 2.7 G is fitted with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a two-wheel drive with a 2694 cc petrol engine. This model is a strong seller in big cities because of its automatic transmission. The 2.7 V adds four-wheel drive, and is popular outside Java, where off-road and bumpy roads predominate. The 4x2 2.7 G and 4x4 2.7 V come only with automatic transmission. The 2.5 G was later added to the market, powered by a 2.5 diesel engine giving 102 bhp, criticized for being underpowered for its size. It is mated to a 5-speed manual. Its high body model has been criticized as unstable, and not aerodynamic when running at higher speeds. Despite this, 2.5 Fortuner enjoys success regardless of only available with a manual transmission, because the Toyota brand is trusted by many Indonesians. Moreover, the 2.5 diesel engine is considered more efficient and durable in the long run.

In mid 2009, a new variant was added to the lineup, which is the 2.5 G with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Current owners of the 2.5 G with manual transmission criticized the model, saying that the manual was already very underpowered, and adding an automatic transmission would only make matters worse. Toyota hopes this model would be a best seller and would bring up sales of the Fortuner which is weakening, because the current best selling model, the 2.5 G with manual transmission didn't sell very well because at that price the market wouldn't pay for a manual transmission car, so the introduction of an automatic transmission would definitely be suitable for the market.

At its launch the Fortuner sold well, but it never outsold the Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail because these SUVs are more efficient and are regarded as being superior for urban use. In rural areas the Fortuner is popular since it can accommodate many people. The incumbent President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono privately owns a gray Fortuner in V guise, and is often seen during the recent campaigns for the 2009 presidential election.

[edit]Malaysia

The Toyota Fortuner is sold in Malaysia in 2 variants – 2.7V and 2.5G.

The 2.7V carries a 4-cylinder, in-line 16-valve, DOHC, VVT-i petrol engine, with a maximum output of 118 kW at 5200 rpm and maximum torque of 241 Nm at 3800 rpm. 2.7V is available only in 4-speed automatic transmission with ECT.

The 2.5G has a DOHC Turbo diesel engine with a maximum output of 75 kW at 3600 rpm and maximum torque of 260 Nm at 1600-2400 rpm. 2.5G was initially available with a 5-speed manual transmission only, but for the 2009 model year facelift it has been replaced by a 4-speed auto.[4]

[edit]Philippines

The Fortuner was introduced in 2005 to supplant the RAV4 and the Land Cruiser. It is sold in 3 variants: 2.7G gasoline, 2.5G diesel, and 3.0V diesel.
